Printable Isometric Paper
An isometric grid of 30° and vertical lines for drawing 3D objects, buildings and game maps. Print it as lines or as a dot lattice.
Print at “Actual size” or 100% scale so the spacing comes out exactly as set. Everything is made in your browser; nothing is uploaded.

How to make Isometric paper
- Choose the triangle size Pick 1/4 inch, 1/2 inch, 5 mm, 1 cm or a custom side length.
- Lines or dots Print the full triangle grid or only the lattice points for a lighter guide.
- Style the page Set paper size, orientation, line color and weight, and toggle the vertical lines.
- Print or download Download the PDF or print it directly at actual size.
How isometric paper works
Isometric paper is covered in equilateral triangles. Its lines run in three directions: vertical, and 30° up to the left and to the right of horizontal. Those three directions match the three edges of a cube seen from a corner, so you can draw a box, a building or a machine part in 3D just by following the lines. Because every edge is drawn at the same scale, measurements stay true along all three axes, which is why engineers and technical illustrators use it.
Lines or dots?
The full line grid is easiest for beginners: every edge you draw already has a guide underneath. The dot version shows only the corners of the triangles. It looks cleaner once the drawing is finished and is popular for bullet journals, logo sketches and lettering. If you plan to scan or photograph your drawing, choose dots in a light gray.
Choosing a size
| Triangle side | Good for |
|---|---|
| 1/4 in or 5 mm | Detailed technical sketches, product design, level design |
| 1/2 in or 1 cm | Classroom exercises with cubes, block building plans for children |
Ideas for isometric paper
- Math class: drawing cube structures from front, side and top views, and counting the volume of stacked blocks.
- Technical drawing: quick 3D views of parts before a full CAD model.
- Games: isometric pixel art, tabletop map tiles and planning builds for block-building games.
- Art and lettering: 3D block letters, impossible shapes and geometric patterns.
To draw a cube: mark a point, draw one vertical edge, then follow the two 30° lines from its top and bottom ends. Close the shape with matching edges and you have three visible faces of equal size.
Frequently asked questions
What is isometric paper used for?
It is used to draw 3D objects with true measurements along all three axes: technical sketches, architecture, math exercises with cubes, game maps and lettering.
What angle are the lines on isometric paper?
The slanted lines are at 30° from horizontal in both directions, and the third set of lines is vertical. Together they form equilateral triangles.
What is isometric dot paper?
Isometric dot paper shows only the corners of the triangles as dots. Choose “Dots only” under Style to print it.
Can I print isometric paper on A4?
Yes. Choose A4 under Paper size or download the A4 PDF from the presets below.
What size isometric grid should I choose?
1/4 inch or 5 mm triangles suit detailed drawings; 1/2 inch or 1 cm triangles are easier for children and classroom cube exercises.
